We spent about 2 weeks of our trip in a large city (of several million people, though we never knew what the exact population was).
Apparently, we like to eat because looking back, we have a lot of food pictures! :-)
The first local food we tried was Central Asian/Russian cuisine. It was fun to have some of Rachel's favorites from her childhood (Mom, this Oliviae salad picture was for you)!
One thing that was very plentiful in the city was all kinds of bread, baked fresh each morning!
We also got to go to a traditional dance/song/comedy show at a local arts theater. It was really fun (except that we didn't understand any of the jokes)!
Something I have never seen in Denver is a herd of sheep crossing a busy intersection in the middle of the city. :-)
One day we went to the edge of the city where there were supposed to be a bunch of camels. And they had a white baby camel!
They were looking a little shaggy since they were losing their winter coats, but they were still cute.
Right in the middle of the city is a large hill with a big park on it. It was a great place to actually see the city and the surrounding mountains.
And there were tons of flowers in bloom!
A really random and fun find was that the park had an alpine slide! This is significant because there was one just a few minutes from our home in Colorado!
