So this blog post is a little late... but a little over a month ago we got out of town and away from language class to the mountains for a couple days to celebrate our anniversary.
We stayed in a medium-sized guest house that was quite comfortable.
We stayed in a medium-sized guest house that was quite comfortable.
And they made tasty Chinese food for each meal.
We were in a valley between some mountains with a small river. There were several guest homes, but also many people who lived and farmed up there.
While we were there, everyone was drying some sort of small bean/grain/spice on the cement, but we never could figure out what it was.
Some kids were following us around one evening and whispering to themselves (and not so discreetly taking pictures), so Rachel invited them over to say hi and take a proper picture. :-)
You could see stars (which are almost never visible from the city)!
And it was super refreshing to get out and see beautiful scenery.
I (Josh), had a lot of fun taking macro photos too.
We had a fun time interacting (though with difficulty) with others staying there as we rested and ate meals. These ladies were very friendly and were very excited to take pictures with us (and were joking with us that we should start charging for pictures, they thought about $1.25 was fair).
The family who owned the guest house was super friendly and we will be very excited to go back again!
