Some of you may know that I (Josh) am a bit nerdy. Slowly, I have been able to help Rachel also embrace nerdiness.
From early on in our marriage, we started celebrating Pi Day. Pi, of course, being the mathematical constant having to do with the properties of a circle (3.14159265359...).
Pi Day is celebrated on March 14 and for the sake of a good pun (and deliciousness), we usually make pie and eat all things round (and sometimes make noble attempts to memorize a few more digits of pi -- often the same digits that we forgot from last year).

Now one nerdy holiday a year is nice, but wouldn't it be great if we could find more reasons to celebrate (and eat pie!)?

Pi is also seen in mathematics when it comes to measuring angles. Rather than using degrees, we often use "radians" to measure angles. To avoid too much explanation, all you need to know for the present nerdiness is that 360 degrees (one complete rotation or circle) is equal to 2pi radians.
A wedding ring, because it is a circle, symbolizes an unending bond and a sense of completion. So then you really have to ask yourself, what it more romantic: celebrating arbitrarily chosen events like your 5th or 10th wedding anniversary, OR celebrating your 2pi wedding anniversary, which of course celebrates lifelong commitment and irrational numbers?
So, you guessed it, last Friday we did just that -- celebrated being married for 6.28 years. :-)
We, of course, had to begin with the most important part of any wedding anniversary/mathematical holiday: Pi(e)

Now, merely eating a pie is not the most romantic thing on the planet, so we decided to spice it up by going out to one of the very few Italian restaurants in town.
And got dressed up for the occasion!
Rachel wanted me to point out that for this special anniversary we even ate off of round plates (which admittedly we do every other day of the year).
And since it is our 2pi anniversary, you can't just eat one pie, so we decided we must get another.
For those older than us, who are dissapointed that they have already passed this once in a lifetime chance to celebrate their single most important anniversary, it is okay. You still have time to celebrate your 12.566, 18.85, 25.13, 31.42 or even 62.83 year anniversaries!
