How Do I Travel in Thailand?

Let me count the ways..
 1. Public song thaew (a pickup truck with benches in the back)

2. Sky train (through the city)

3. Boat! (up and down the canals in Bangkok)

Other people on the boat were on their way home from work or school... it was more like a city bus!

4. Not pictured: City bus

5. Taxi

6. Bicycle

7. Long-distance bus

View from the bus window! Apparently, there were some serious cyclists on the roads. :)

8. Motorcycle "sidecar" (including us, our driver, our luggage, and a few packages to be delivered along the way)

 9. Regional van

We liked the van company's sign. :) And the power lines...

10. Overnight sleeper train

The beds transform into benches and tables for the day time... just enough room for a game of Speed Scrabble. :)

There were actually lots of other foreigners on the train.
11. Bamboo raft (Confession: the next three modes of transportation were a tourist attraction.) :)

I tried not to touch the bottom of the river during the photo... I don't really trust my raft steering abilities!

12. Ox cart

13. Elephant!

On the top of the elephant.

They were so cute! I think they may be my new favorite animal.

14. Private song thaew

 15. Not pictured: Walking?

16. Not pictured: Airplanes

17. Last, but not least, Tuk tuks! (We squeezed 4 adults in this one.)

Here is what they look like from the outside.

After all this traveling, we are definitely ready to fly home tonight!
