This year, I (Rachel) observed Lent for the first time, which helped make this time one of the most special celebrations of Jesus' resurrection that I've experienced. :)
We had friends over to celebrate a Passover seder with us, which we've been doing for the past several years.
The symbolism has become really meaningful to us, as we consider all of the promises God has fulfilled so far, and those still in process.
On Sunday, after an Easter service, we had dinner with several friends.
First we dyed eggs with their kids. :)
Then, the feast! Roasted duck, mashed potatoes, snow peas, strawberry spinach salad, and more.
We made a strawberry cake, partly inspired by the the trucks of strawberries on the street corner, and partly by a minor food fiasco...
We bought heavy cream for making soups and Italian food at the import store recently. But since they were out of the kind we usually buy, we got a different kind, that also said "奶油" or "cream" on the box.

When it curdled in our friend's coffee, though, I poured some in a spoon to see if it was sour. It was sugary!
After scrutinizing the back of the box to look for a list of ingredients (and noticing the cake on the front!), we found that the first ingredient was water, then something oily, then something sugary. Hmm...
So we used it up as fast as possible: by whipping it up and slathering it on a strawberry cake. :)
The cake was actually delicious, in spite of the fake Cool-Whip-esque cream.

Then we sang Easter hymns together. :)
Finally, an Easter egg hunt. The kids wanted to hide them, so we actually got to hunt!
