After getting the opportunity to connect with people in Southern California, we traveled north to San Francisco
On two nights, we didn't have a place to stay so we decided to camp instead. The first night we camped on Bodega Bay. This was fun as we got to hear the ocean waves from our campsite; however, sleeping was slightly impaired by the fog horn going off every 10 seconds!
We then traveled to Redding, CA, where we got to connect with a good friend of Rachel's and camped at Lake Shasta.
It was really beautiful...
And it was nice to have a restful morning in the middle of all our travels.
Saying goodbye to camping, we headed to Sonoma, CA, where we got to connect with some old friends and some new friends.
I (Josh) had fun playing croquet (though I may be banned from ever playing again in Sonoma County because of some of my tactics).
Our friends from Sonoma took us on a tour of the local area where we got In-n-Out, saw the Golden Gate Bridge,
and got to see the "Bay Model" -- a physical model of the San Francisco bay that scientists used for 50 years to model water-flow in the bay (this amazed Josh, as science is definitely NOT done like this anymore!)
